Rebtel unveils VOIP app for iPad

Seattle pi.

The app is available for free in the iTunes App Store and enables anyone to make high quality Rebtel to Rebtel calls for free over or 3G. The introduction of the iPad app joins the fleet of existing Rebtel 2.0 app offerings currently available for Android, iPhone, and PC.

“Along with the gift of increased screen real-estate, the iPad has given us the ability to rethink the Rebtel user experience while balancing the benefits of the platform with the same sense of familiarity we strive for across all our products,” says Andreas Bernstrom, CEO at Rebtel.

The company's release of Rebtel 2.0 for iPad is timely, with sales figures for Apple's iPad reaching 11.8 million in just the last quarter, representing a 151% increase in comparison to the same quarter in 2011, effectively securing Apple a 68% share of the tablet market, reports PRWeb.

The most recent release of the new iPad has been the strongest to date with over three million devices sold within the first three days on the market.

“We are squarely in the middle of the post-PC era, marked by an increasing amount of consumers who have leapfrogged the classic desktop PC in favour of multi-purpose mobile devices that allow for greater creativity and social interaction,” Bernstrom adds.

“We are excited to expand our development pipeline to respond to this growing global demand for tablets and iPads.”
