Rectron has advised that three-year global warranties are now available on Maxtor and Quantum hard drive products purchased through its distribution channel in SA.
Mark Lu, Rectron CEO, says the warranties are valid on all desktop IDE drives bought through the Rectron dealer and reseller channel. "This means that a customer can obtain a swap out replacement for a drive unit bought in SA through the Rectron channel in most major cities in the world," he says.
"The issue of global warranties has been a sensitive one in recent years with the proliferation of the so-called `grey market`. Many vendors have been unwilling to offer global warranties because of the uncertainty surrounding the origin or the products.
"However, Maxtor and Quantum are confident that its distribution through Rectron is secure and have assured us that documented drives bought from our resellers in SA will be backed by a full global warranty," says Lu.
