JSE-listed IT distribution group Rectron has just completed installation of a new telephone system to support the rapid growth of its business over the past year.
The installation makes Rectron the first company in SA to go live with National Panasonic`s new high-end digital telephone system, the KX-TD 500 PBX. Satra has just approved the new PBX for use in the country.
Says Alan Michas, IT manager at Rectron: "Over the past year, Rectron has enjoyed an astonishing growth rate, tripling our staff complement and lifting revenues from R310m to R500m. Together with the growth in our bottom line, we have seen the number of sales and support phone calls we handle increase to more than 3000 a day."
Michas says it quickly became apparent that the company`s old analogue phone system would be unable to cater the company`s growth into the future. After evaluating several options, Rectron chose the new Panasonic PBX because of its sophisticated management and call grouping features, says Michas.
The system allows Rectron to route calls efficiently to sales and support staff as well as distribute incoming calls evenly between several phones logged in to a specific UCD group. The new 500 port PBX is attached to three ISDN lines and distributes calls to more than 85 Rectron employees.
