Rectron launches Gigabyte`s new universal 3D Cooler

Johannesburg, 10 Feb 2004

Supports P4, K8 and K7

South African distributor Rectron has introduced Gigabyte Technology`s new cooling solution, the 3D Cooler, which now ships with a LED light display and is compatible with a variety of platforms such as P4, K8 and K7.

The Cooler, which weighs 430g - is made up of a heat sink and copper base for both thermal conductivity and transfer, and a central blower that actively dissipates heat.

"The 3D Cooler`s unique blower structure, for example, allows cool air to enter both from the top and the base and enables heat to escape in a 360-degree fashion," explains Reon Coetzee, marketing manager of Rectron.

The heat sink structure is composed of high-density fins that decrease the overall weight while increasing the surface area available for dissipation of heat.

It also features embedded heat pipes which have high heat transfer capabilities (10 times greater than copper) due to the two-phase heat transfer mechanism.

In order to reduce noise and control cooling, the 3D Cooler comes with a front 3.5 panel and a rear PCI panel that enables users to manually adjust the fan speed and the noise level according to their working environments.

The cooler operates at fan speeds of between 2 000 and 4 000rpm while keeping the noise level between 20dBA and 40dBA.
