Johannesburg, 18 Jan 2005

Gigabyte Technology together with official South African distributor, Rectron has introduced the latest model in its range of DVD Dual Drives, the Gigabyte GO-W1608A, which supports 16X DVD+R write, 8X DVD-R write and 2.4X DVD+R write double layer technology.

Due to its dual compatibility, the new DVD drive can be read by most DVD-ROM drives and DVD players, offering increased flexibility as well as high-speed multimedia data storage.

Adopting a dual DVD+/-R/RW design, the GO-W1608A supports 16X DVD+R Write / 8X DVD-R write / 4X DVD+/-ReWrite / 16X DVD-ROM-Read / 48X CD-Write / 24X CD Re-Write / 48X CD-ROM-Read. Also, Gigabyte`s IBS technology prevents buffer under-run problems, eliminating the creation of CD and DVD coasters.

Furthermore, Gigabyte`s i-Speed Technology will intelligently adjust reading speeds while i-Burn Technology adjusts the optimum burning speed according to media type thus providing safety and quality throughout the burning process.

"Gigabyte`s GO-W1608A is a powerful solution for fast data accessing and writes stable and reliable data. It`s able to satisfy any multimedia enthusiast`s needs from reproducing memory-intensive video sequences on DVD with optimal digital image quality to playing full-length films," comments Michael Hann, Gigabyte product manager at Rectron.

The DVD drive also features a VRS (Vibration Reduction System) which has been engineered to reduce vibration, work silently as well as provide improved stability when operating at high speed.
