Rectron, one of SA`s leading computer and peripheral products distributors, recently hosted a "road show" - a showcase of its latest products at its branches in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein and Durban - as well as at its new premises in Midrand, north of Johannesburg.
The Midrand event formed part of Rectron`s on-going inauguration plans for its new, R60 million complex - the Rectron Technology Park.
Highlights of the events were presentations from senior Intel representatives, Christopher Tobias (group marketing and strategic planning manager) and Shaun Rasmussen (chipset business development manager).
They showcased Intel`s new product developments and gave visitors an indication of the company`s marketing initiatives.
Demonstrations of the latest Gigabyte products, including graphic accelerators, were presented by Tim Hadley, marketing and communications manager for SA, Australia and New Zealand.
He underlined the company`s advances in graphics performance and visual realism for next-generation games and applications.
Visiting sales manager (in the Nordic countries) for NVIDIA Corporation, Robert MacDonald was on also hand to present his company`s latest graphics and digital media processors, together with its new ForceWare Release 70 and Windows XP 64-bit graphics drivers.
NVIDIA also announced a close working partnership with Rectron and its resellers in SA to enable full hardware support for the latest generation of 64-bit architectures and applications.
According to Michael Haan, business group manager at Rectron, the events were an unqualified success, with all seminar sessions fully subscribed by dealers.
"Rectron road shows have a history of innovation an interest, as the latest advances in technology are always on show," he says. "The latest events were no different, except that, in Midrand, we were able to put our new auditorium, with its state-of-the-art presentation technology through its paces.
"This gave our presenters a modern platform from which to launch their new products, concepts and programmes - enthralling their audiences in the process."
