Reducing ICT costs through unified comms

Emerging technologies, such as cloud computing, are expected to reduce enterprises' ICT expenditure in the short- to medium-term, due to the reduced investment in infrastructure.

These are the sentiments of Jiaqi Sun, research analyst, ICT, at Frost & Sullivan.

“Unified communication and collaboration solutions, as well as and unified messaging, are expected to see strong growth in SA in the next three to five years,” he says.

New solutions such as unified messaging, unified communication and collaboration solutions reduce the investments on multiple applications, he says, by minimising the number of devices, and improving the operating efficiency, through linkage of various devices via one solution, Sun emphasises.

SA and other growing African countries, such as Nigeria and Kenya, have the same trends in enterprise/business communications, Sun says. Increasing connectivity and IP network migration, as well as solutions around service delivery models and mobility, are key areas of interest, he continues. Other trends include enterprise mobile services, as well as software as a service data centres.
