RentWorks empowered to offer rental solutions to government

Johannesburg, 12 Feb 2004

Gartner predicts that governments worldwide are moving from the classical model of contracting for services to outsourcing information technology (IT) functions to external service providers.

Purchasing IT equipment is a financial burden as technology is expensive, constantly evolving and an asset that that in many cases depreciates quickly. RentWorks realises that the ownership of technology is no longer the most viable option for businesses and governments that wish to stay up to date and take advantage of the latest technology offerings.

RentWorks` unique rental solution provides customers with the flexibility that allows them to utilise their chosen technology without the many inherent costs and risks associated with ownership.

Rather than having to commit to purchasing IT equipment, RentWorks allows customers to redirect their capital to income generating assets and/or towards investments in assets that appreciate with time. Due to the rapid pace at which technological change takes place, IT equipment is an asset that drops in value quickly and RentWorks` solution allows customers to spread the cost of the rental equipment over its useful life.

At the core of RentWorks` unique rental solution is the RentWorks Exchange Plan. It is a flexible procurement and payment plan that allows customers to replace a percentage of their original equipment with new equipment at different stages of the agreed rental term.

In addition to reducing capital expenditure, RentWorks enables customers to see the benefits of using the most recent technology.

"Our recently approved partnership with black-owned investment company, Millennium Consolidated Investments (MCI) saw MCI acquiring the controlling share of RentWorks Africa. This move further strengthens our position as SA`s leading technology rental company and an empowerment equity leader in the local ICT market," says Ken Modise, CEO of RentWorks.

"Our partnership with MCI allows us to focus on the growing needs of the government and parastatal sectors and further improves our ability to exceed customers` expectations as their rental supplier of choice," concludes Modise.
