Following `s shock announcement that R/3 will no longer be actively marketed, `s infrastructure optimisation company is urging companies intending to upgrade from R/3 to to implement a data and document archiving strategy before or in conjunction with their upgrade. Supported Software already dominates the South African market for data and document archiving solutions in the SAP R/3 environment.
"mySAP.com will drive an e-conomy which will be a highly complex environment for knowledge workers," says Rob Shaw, data and document management specialist at Supported Software. "Under these circumstances planning for effective document and data management must be considered before any substantial build-up of archive data and documents. Companies that do this optimise an already resource-hungry application, achieve a significant cost saving in terms of storage media, and have faster access to archive data."
Supported Software has implemented mySAP.com at its premises for testing, development, demonstration and training. It will also roll out IXOS Software solution for mySAP.com, in line with the company`s recently-announced software partnership status with SAP. IXOS is among the first companies with a SAP-certified interface in the global partner program mySAP.com Partner Value Net. A goal of the program is to help deliver comprehensive eBusiness solutions to mySAP.com customers. As a mySAP.com software partner, IXOS supplies mySAP.com customers with tailor-made solutions and services for the management of business documents in eBusiness environments.
"SAP has stated categorically that the future of the product lies in mySAP.com, which means we expect sales of IXOS in the e-commerce arena to increase dramatically," says Shaw. "We will continue to support existing R/3 sites, but the real growth area will be in the e-commerce environment where dynamic documents and messaging will dominate."
The SAP-certified interface guarantees effortless data exchange between respective applications and enables integration of all kind of documents. The internet interface of all IXOS eBusiness solutions provides the foundation for an optimised product integration. IXOS products use XML as a document platform, which enables the universal access to and reuse of archived eBusiness documents. Furthermore, IXOS products allow the application of digital signatures on all eBusiness documents to provide proof of authenticity and the time of archiving.
"With mySAP.com SAP is delivering an eBusiness platform capable of integrating all kinds of solutions and business processes," explains Shaw. "Due to IXOS`s close, long-term collaboration with SAP in product development, IXOS is able to offer SAP customers eBusiness document solutions with optimized integration to mySAP.com solutions".
Shaw urges companies embracing mySAP.com to make document and data management a priority when installation takes place.
