Retail tech spend healthy

A study conducted by ABI Research forecasts that growth in the technology hardware market will continue in the future, as retailers invest in the latest technology, says Silicon India.

An ABI Research study titled 'Next-generation point-of-sale (POS) systems and retail technology', anticipates retail technology spending will grow to nearly $21 billion in 2014, from $14.8 billion in 2009.

The retail technology hardware market, consisting of integrated POS systems, payment terminals, POS barcode scanners, POS printers and electronic article surveillance systems, managed to continue growing during 2009.

Francesca's selects MarketLive

US fashion retailer Francesca's Collections has chosen MarketLive, an e-commerce software and service provider, to build the store's new Web site, writes Market Wire.

According to MarketLive, Francesca's selected it for its proven expertise with specialty retailers and robust e-commerce functionality 'out of the box'.

Francesca's also cited MarketLive's total-solution approach that comprises technology, services, and deep partnerships with retailers to grow successful e-commerce businesses.

Sinclair deploys Vendor Safe

Sinclair Oil has selected Houston-based Vendor Safe Technologies, according to CSP.

Vendor Safe Technologies was chosen to support Sinclair's initiative to achieve Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard across its network of distributor and dealer-operated convenience stores.

The company will deliver its self configuring firewall architecture and global mesh / VPN to isolate the POS system from other technology within the store's network, protecting it from malware, hackers and other potential threats.
