Reva Systems raises $5m
RFID infrastructure vendor Reva Systems has raised $5 million in a new round of venture funding, states Network World.
The funding comes as the vendor named a new CEO, Bruce Berger, and announced the 500th installation of its Tag Acquisition Processor product line. Counting the latest funding influx, Reva has raised $30 million since its founding in early 2004.
Reva offers a rack-mounted network appliance and Java software to manage large numbers of third-party RFID readers.
GAO rolls out RFID tags
GAO has released its ultra high-frequency RFID tags designed for collecting real-time data for identification, tracking and localisation, says Free Press Release Centre.
The tag with 8000 bytes expandable memory can be used as an electronic packing slip or as an electronic shop traveller.
GAO's UHF active RFID tag conveys data at distance of up to 30.5 metres from a handheld device or up to 91.4 metres from a fixed interrogator. In addition, it is equipped with an optional LED and an optional sensor, which enable temperature monitoring.
RFID gets USB interface
Austria Microsystems in partnership with IE Technology has unveiled the IET RU-210u, RFID reader, with USB and serial interface, says Electronics News.
The RU-210u UHF RFID reader is suitable for logistics, manufacturing and retail applications.
The reader uses a Simply Gen2 single chip and protocol engine to enable filtering and reduce costs.
