Review: Logitech M125 mouse

The Logitech M125 mouse is incredibly simple to use and convenient, but the USB cable is too short for comfortable use.

The M125 has a sleek design, making it ideal for business use. It has a plastic exterior with black and grey finishes. The mouse is fairly small, so it's easy to store along with a laptop in most laptop carrier bags. In fact, you can store the mouse in a side pocket, too.

Thanks to the USB connection, the mouse works as soon as it is plugged into a computer. The M125 has left and right buttons as well as a scroll wheel. It works on most operating systems, including Windows, Mac and Linux.

The USB cable is retractable, with the USB connector itself storing neatly underneath the mouse when the cable is retracted. This is a nifty design feature because it eliminates the inconvenience of tangled cables.

However, the cable is not long enough to ensure comfortable use. I found I was unable to position the mouse within comfortable reach when the cable was behind my laptop. On the other hand, having the cable in front of my laptop just made my desk look cluttered, or maybe it's just me?

A longer cable may mean the mouse itself would have to be bigger, due to the fact that the cable is retractable; however, this would still be a vast improvement.

In all fairness, the M125 is perfectly responsive. The scroll wheel is smooth, which is a definite plus when browsing Web sites and scanning documents. The mouse's optical sensor tracks at 1000 dpi. The buttons also respond to light clicking, making the mouse easy to use.
