The Verbatim Store n' Go 1TB portable hard drive is fast, lightweight and ideal for those who need to carry their on the move.

By integrating energy-saving technology into its hardware, the storage device is part of Verbatim's strategy to go green. It comes with built-in energy-saving software called 'Green Button'.

Green Button works by suspending the spinning hard drive when it detects that the device is not in use. This is to boost efficiency and save energy.

This is especially useful for laptops powering their portable hard drives via mobile batteries.

Green Button has three 'sleep setting' options. It can be set after 10 minutes or by increments of 10 minutes up to 120 minutes. Alternatively, the user can set the drive to never suspend the disk.

The storage device comes with a USB 2.0 and FireWire 400 ports so it can be used with either Windows or Apple desktop PCs and notebooks.

Verbatim provides an added bonus in the form of a data recovery and CD-burning software bundle already installed on the hard drive.

The Verbatim Store n' Go 1TB portable hard drive comes with Nero BackItUp and Burn Essentials software that lets users back up valuable data onto their PCs or laptops. It also enables users to schedule an auto backup for added .

Nero Express burns files onto a CD or DVD while Nero RescueAgent recovers the files should they be damaged on the hard drive.

In comparison with a competing hard drive, I found the Verbatim Store n' Go very competitive in terms of speed. I was able to watch movies off the hard drive with no latency in speed and was able to rapidly access my data immediately after plugging it into my laptop.

Connected to a USB 2.0 port, the hard drive reached a speed of 32.7Mbps.

The device is stylish, has a compact design and can easily slip into a handbag. The added backup software and energy-efficient technology makes it a competitive deal.

I recommend it to energy-conscious consumers who are looking for a lightweight portable hard drive that can pack a punch.
