Revised Network+ to go live soon

Johannesburg, 24 Jan 2002

CompTIA, the Computing Technology Industry Association, announces that a revised version of the current Network+ certification exam is to go live from 31 January. Students who have trained and studied towards the current certification, based on the 1999 objectives, have until 14 March to certify before this exam is withdrawn.

Network+ is a CompTIA vendor neutral certification that measures the technical knowledge of networking professionals with 18 to 24 months experience in the IT industry.

Earning the Network+ certification means that the candidate possesses the knowledge needed to configure and operate a variety of networking products. This exam covers a wide range of vendor- and product-neutral networking technologies that can also serve as a prerequisite for vendor-specific IT certifications.

"After extensive discussions with SMEs, response received from surveys, as well as feedback from professionals who passed the exam, CompTIA decided to revise the test," says Adrian Schofield, CompTIA`s international sales and marketing director.

He explains that the new Network+ exam objectives will cover current technologies such as Gigabit Ethernet, optical connectors and wireless protocols. Additionally, there will be a stronger focus on experience-based topics like troubleshooting.

The Network+ certification is recognised and accepted by a number of leading networking vendors including Novell, 3Com, Cisco and Lotus, and most recent, as an elective of Microsoft`s new MCSA track.
