Venture Computer, the sole Southern African distributor for Lexmark International, today announced a revolutionary new inkjet, the Lexmark J110, which satisfies the complicated and often conflicting printing needs of business, by combining laser speed and quality with the colour and price of an inkjet.
For small businesses, the J110 fits both office space and budget requirements without speed or quality sacrifices. For small workgroups in larger enterprises, the J110 offers the reliability, output quality and low cost per page needed to meet the demands of these customers.
"With the new J110, businesses no longer have to sacrifice performance or pay a premium for colour printing," said Mark Hiller, Managing Director of Venture Computer. "The J110 removes these barriers for customers by combining the heart of an inkjet printer with the benefits of a laser printer. We call it LiquidLaser technology and it is designed to give our customers the best of both the inkjet and laser printing worlds."
Until now, businesses have had a number of barriers preventing them from adopting colour in the workplace. Higher-end, colour laser printers were often too expensive. Entry-level inkjets were too slow and not robust enough to handle business volumes. Outsourcing colour output to a print shop was both time-consuming and expensive.
The Lexmark J110 provides the solution by giving small workgroups within enterprises and small businesses a fast and affordable business-class printer to meet both their colour and monochrome printing needs. A network model, the J110tn, makes colour network printing even more appealing and affordable for small workgroups within enterprises and small businesses.
Print quality
The J110 gives business high-impact, photo-quality resolution of up to 2400 x 1200 dots per inch (dpi). It also features Lexmark`s innovative PerfectFinish technology that significantly improves output print quality by pre-coating the paper before ink is applied. One of the advantages of PerfectFinish is that customers will no longer have to purchase reams of speciality papers to achieve high-quality colour output.
The J110 includes four separate ink tanks, each with a yield of up to 3,000 pages at approximately 5% coverage and two long-life print heads. The PerfectFinish cartridge also offers a high page yield and is easily installed at the back of the printer.
Performance
The J110 prints at up to 16 pages per minute (ppm) black and 14 ppm colour. It also boasts an eight-second time-to-first-print, thus reducing print job wait time and helping customers get their jobs printed even faster. The J110`s ink saver mode, which can be used for printing drafts of documents, saves up to 50 percent on supplies costs.
The new printer sports a 100 megahertz (MHz) processor, eight megabytes (MB) of random access memory (RAM) and is robust enough to handle printing up to 10,000 pages per month.
Connectivity
The J110 can be connected via its standard parallel or Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports for operation in Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT and Macintosh environments and can be connected to a network via an external network adapter. Lexmark`s MarkVision Professional software is included with the J110 at no additional cost and helps ease printer set-up and management on a network.
Models and availability
The J110 offers three input options (standard tray, second tray and multipurpose feeder) for a maximum input capacity of 575 sheets and a maximum output capacity of 250 sheets.
The J110tn is a network model that includes a specially designed integrated print server that mounts on the side or back of the printer taking up virtually no space. This innovative print server draws its power from the J110`s parallel port and therefore doesn`t require a power brick or extra power outlet to operate.
