RFID boosts healthcare efficiency
XECAN has integrated the ThingMagic Astra ultra-high frequency reader into Trimble's radio frequency identification (RFID) oncology solution, which was recently deployed at Jordan Hospital, in the US, reports RFID News.
With the integrated ThingMagic Astra reader installed, the oncology solution automates patient queuing, along with the opening of patient charts and treatment plans, in addition to accessory verification for treatment devices.
According to Wired, XECAN's RFID plug-in solution is designed to eliminate patient identification and potential treatment errors by interfacing directly with electronic medical record (EMR) software.
Bin Yang, XECAN CEO, says: “The design and functionality of Astra lets us offer integration-ready RFID solutions for major EMR systems on the market, so customers don't have to modify their existing EMR software.”
According to MoreRFID, Tom Grant, GM of Trimble's ThingMagic division, explains that passive RFID can help streamline operations in healthcare.
“By simplifying the way organisations can develop, integrate and deploy RFID-enabled solutions, we help healthcare companies like XECAN focus more on the patient and less on the RFID technology,” he adds.
