RFID deployed for pipeline monitoring
EarthSearch LogiBoxx system communicates via GSM networks and is solar-powered, which allows it to operate in some of the most remote areas in the world.
Wall Street Newscast says the system aims to assist oil companies to monitor remote stretches of pipeline from possible tampering, or sabotage.
Oil and Gas Online reveals any tampering or an attempt to break into the oil pipeline will cause the RFID sensors to alert EarthSearch.
"One only need to look at the turmoil in the world, to understand the need to protect oil distribution lines, the market fluctuation in oil prices are causing havoc on the world economy," says Kayode Aladesuyi, EarthSearch CEO.
He adds: "Countries like Nigeria and others are having a difficult time with theft of oil and breakage in the pipeline. We hope to bring solution to these markets to support the oil industry.”
