Canadian-based Research In Motion (RIM) has brought the Curve 9320 - aimed at socially connected users - to SA.
The new BlackBerry 9320 smartphone, which features all BlackBerry messaging and social networking abilities, offers both 3G and WiFi connectivity and has longer battery life, says RIM.
Rui Brites, director of product management for RIM in SA, says the Curve 9320 is a “truly social” phone. He says the model - designed to enable customers to be fully socially connected - is expected to be particularly popular with young people.
According to RIM, the 9320 features a new, dedicated BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) key. “In addition to connecting on BBM, customers can interact with their social network in real-time, using preloaded apps for Facebook and Twitter.
The handset's integrated camera includes a flash and supports video recording. Pictures can be tagged with their location via a built-in GPS. The 9320 also features a built-in FM radio, which does not use data services. According to RIM, the longer battery life will give customers up to seven hours talk time - or up to 30 hours of FM radio or music playback with headphones.
The BlackBerry Curve 9320 runs on the new BlackBerry 7.1 operating system and features Mobile Hotspot support.
