Roan Systems appointed OKI ASP and spares distributor

Roan Systems, a company with over 10 years' experience in printer sales, consulting, service, maintenance and repairs, has recently been appointed as an OKI Authorised Service Provider (ASP) and spares distributor.

This appointment will see Roan maintain and repair the entire range of OKI products, including products that are covered by their warrantee.

Roan Systems sells, supports and maintains a variety of printer brands and products, from heavy-duty industrial line printers to front-office automation solutions, making the company a one-stop print solution house.

Says Frikkie Koegelenberg, managing director of Roan Systems: "This appointment is a natural evolution for Roan Systems as we have a strong printer technical services background. In addition, we have a national footprint with offices in Johannesburg (head office), Durban and Cape Town, and are ideally positioned to service the needs of resellers that require an OKI ASP and spares distributor."

Roan Systems had to meet stringent criteria in order to qualify as a suitable ASP and spares distributor. Roan Systems has a 'workshop' in each region with a minimum of two to three field support engineers that respond to maintenance and support calls. In addition, these engineers had to complete OKI printer certification.

Roan Systems completed all four sets of certification in order to support OKI's entire product offering. This includes the Serial Interface Dot Matrix (SIDM); monochrome printers; colour printers, including Multi-Functional Printers (MFPs); and line printers. Each engineer had to attend training over a week in order to achieve the necessary certification. In addition to hardware certification, each engineer had to obtain training to install and support the OKI software that goes hand-in-hand with its print solutions."

Says Emile Pitout, Technical Manager at OKI South Africa: "Roan Systems were the ideal partner to appoint as ASP and spares distributor due to their experience in not only OKI printers but their general expertise and knowledge of the printer market. Roan was also already handling their own maintenance and repairs for the OKI range of printers sold to their client base and therefore had exposure to our technology and offering. Currently, Roan Systems is the only company that can support, maintain and repair OKI's line printers.

"We now have an ASP and spares distributor with a national footprint which was a key consideration for us with this appointment. Another plus is the fact that Roan Systems has also made inroads into sub-Saharan Africa, providing us with the opportunity to look towards ASP and spares distributor appointments in this region."

Roan Systems not only offers a walk-in service but provide onsite services too. This is crucial for OKI partners' service level agreements (SLAs) where Roan Systems will deliver underlying service and support. The contracts are negotiated individually and incorporate the clients' appropriate lead times.
