SecureData, a member of the JSE-listed ERP.com Group and the distributor for RSA Security products in Sub-Saharan Africa, today announced the availability for the RSA Sign-On Manager secure enterprise access solution that combines RSA Security's best-of-breed strong authentication products with enterprise single sign-on (SSO). The secure enterprise access solution is designed to allow organisations to reduce help desk costs from password resets, improve enterprise security and increase end user productivity, while extending the value of their current security investment. RSA Sign-On Manager delivers a wide range of authentication choices from password-only mode to strong two-factor authentication, as well as enterprise-class policy and credential management, and IntelliAccess technology - an innovative secure self-service emergency access and password reset capability. The RSA Sign-On Manager solution further extends RSA Security's commitment to provide secure and simple access across the enterprise and other organisations.
"RSA Sign-On Manager is a one-stop solution that strategically mitigates risk and increases productivity by blending both physical and network security with the power of single sign-on. Our data centre combines a mission critical network infrastructure and software applications that monitor the quality of service vital to our customers in the banking, healthcare, government and e-commerce industries," commented Todd Blank, Chief Technology Officer, IP Outlet, a data centre and network for high availability IP and transport services. "In a time of crisis, I don't want my staff to have to remember 30 different passwords to gain access to both the equipment and applications that help to manage these organisations' assets. Other solutions just don't match up to RSA Sign-On Manager, and I wouldn't want to run my business without it."
RSA Sign-On Manager grants access to any number of Microsoft Windows, client/server, web or mainframe applications, as well as intranets and public web sites, without the user having to re-authenticate to each new application, resulting in increased security and eliminating the user frustration of managing multiple ID's and passwords.
RSA Security offers customers a range of authentication choices including passwords, RSA SecurID authenticators, RSA Smart Cards, RSA USB Authenticators, RSA Keon digital certificates (or any X.509 certificates) or fingerprint-based biometrics. RSA Sign-On Manager also provides customers with the flexibility to choose the level of authentication best suited for their business, and the flexibility to deploy multiple authentication methods within the same company. For example, the solution is ideal for organisations looking to deploy smart cards for the first time, or replacing existing physical access badges with multi-purpose RSA Smart Cards. In addition, RSA Security plans to integrate the next version of RSA Sign-On Manager with the RSA SecurID for Microsoft Windows solution, which will be designed to allow organisations to extend the use of RSA SecurID two-factor authentication to their single sign-on credentials, whether a user is on the network or offline.
"The strategic value of RSA Sign-On Manager is that it extends to areas throughout the access infrastructure, including legacy applications. This increases our ability to sell into our existing customers' environments, plus those that use RSA SecurID two-factor authentication. RSA Sign-On Manager also provides a compelling lead into other organisations where there is a need for secure physical and network access," added Dr. Darwin L. Martinez, director of Strategic Security Solutions at Forsythe, a RSA SecurWorld channel partner based in Skokie, Illinois. "Our ongoing relationship with RSA Security continues to help our joint customers solve serious security challenges, including those that require compliance with regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley."
IntelliAccess technology, an innovation within RSA Sign-On Manager developed by RSA Laboratories, makes it possible for users who are either online or offline that have lost or misplaced their authenticator, or have forgotten their password, to securely gain temporary access to their applications without calling the help desk. Through the use of IntelliAccess technology, customers can achieve better security and privacy of information, enhanced usability, and significant reductions in help desk calls, resulting in lower costs and improved IT administrator productivity. RSA Sign-On Manager also includes enterprise management tools that enable centralised management of single sign-on, two-factor authentication and security policies, and centralised back-up and recovery of credentials.
"Information technology professionals constantly struggle with high help desk costs, weak security, and the tasks of meeting regulatory compliance. A primary contributor to these series of challenges is the ongoing headache of managing end users, and their access rights and respective passwords," continued Jason Lewis, vice president of product management and marketing at RSA Security. "With RSA Sign-On Manager, organizations are able to remedy this situation today by simplifying password management for both the end user and their IT team, increasing efficiency and productivity, and reducing the costs of securing access to physical and network resources."
