RSA Security signs global contract with KPMG

Strategic alliance helps protect KPMG`s global network as major advisory firm goes global

RSA Security has announced a worldwide contract with KPMG, the global accounting, tax and consulting firm, intended to ensure that only authorised users gain access to all the firm`s worldwide network files, applications and communications.

Under the terms of the agreement, KPMG has licensed RSA ACE/Server software and will supply RSA SecurID key fob tokens to all employees worldwide to protect KPMG`s entire global network and all operating systems. In addition, the agreement establishes an alliance between the two companies to collaborate on future technologies and direction.

"When we decided to create a single, dynamic and universally accessible knowledge environment, we also knew we needed to provide the best security to ensure that only authorised users gained entry to our system," said Charles White, Global CIO at KPMG. "RSA Security is the recognised standard for two-factor authentication, and they have the resources and dedication to support our global security needs today and in the future."

"This agreement builds on the excellent relationships we have established with many of KPMG`s regional affiliates to forge a single, global corporate standard at KPMG for two-factor authentication," said Scott Schnell, senior vice president of marketing at RSA Security.

The agreement enables KPMG to deploy RSA ACE/Server software to an unlimited number of users on any number of servers worldwide as part of KPMG`s globalisation. It provides each of KPMG`s remote users with a new RSA SecurID key fob, and sets an automatic renewal and delivery process for all existing tokens already deployed. In addition, KPMG signed a Premium Support Programme maintenance agreement, which includes a dedicated RSA Security support team making scheduled on-site visits to reinforce KPMG`s development and training efforts.

Commenting on the global agreement, Phil Hartridge technology integration manager at KPMG`s Johannesburg, southern Africa office, said: "This deal has brought the power of RSA SecurID authentication with our reach at last. Now we can provide users with the assurance they have been asking for: that their data is only accessible by authorised users. We immediately put an ACE/Server in place and have already begun deploying the keyfobs to our 2000 Southern African users. We are excited about being able to put such a technologically advanced authentication solution in place and this helps pave the way to our permanent connection to KWorld next year."

In one of its primarily applications, RSA Security`s SecurID authentication technology is designed to ensure that only authorised users gain access to KPMG`s new advanced global knowledge management system, KWorld. A state-of-the-art online messaging, collaboration, and knowledge sharing platform, KWorld is the product and catalyst of the KPMG`s globalisation strategy, and is designed to leverage the intellectual capital of every employee to enable practitioners to better serve the firm`s clients locally and globally.
