The Matshumane Secondary School in Glen Cowie in the Limpopo province has received R20 000 and 10 PCs from the organisers of the 2001 Black ICT Achievers awards. The awards are a joint Department of Communication/Forge Ahead BMI-T event.
The donation was made available by the Department of Communication, and the overall winner of the Black ICT Achievers 2001 award, Choice Technologies MD Semela Tseka, nominated the beneficiary. Tseka has also given the assurance that Choice Technologies will sponsor the installation of the PCs, as well as the initial training needed.
The donations were handed over in a ceremony attended by communications minister Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri and other dignitaries this week. Noting that the Matshumane Secondary School had managed to obtain an 86% Matric pass rate with very minimal resources, the minister expressed the hope that the new PCs would benefit both teachers and pupils.
