SA company gets go-ahead from UK to implement PRINCE2

By Snap Tech
Johannesburg, 04 Oct 2002

South African company Snap-Tech has been accredited by the UK's Association of Project Management Group to implement PRINCE2 training events for this internationally acclaimed project management methodology. These events culminate with examinations for international certification and the prestigious PRINCE2 Practitioner status.

PRINCE2 stands for PRojects IN Controlled Environments, and is a structured methodology for effective project management, owned by the UK's Office of Government Commerce. It is the industry-standard methodology for project management used extensively by the UK government and is widely recognised and used in the private sector both in the UK and internationally, expanding rapidly into Europe, the US and Australia.

PRINCE2's modern, flexible approach encompasses many years of "lessons learnt" from leading international corporations, government bodies, and consultants into a consolidated "best practice" methodology.

Snap-Tech (Pty) Ltd is the 38th fully accredited training organisation for PRINCE2 worldwide and the first in Africa. The demanding certification requirements entailed formal auditing and approval of training material, trainers, organisational processes and procedures.

PRINCE2 will be particularly relevant to organisations looking for effective ways to deal with the unprecedented levels of change in SA's dynamic socio-economic environment, as its complete, end-to-end process-oriented approach to project management provides a scalable and flexible framework that accommodates projects of any type and size.

The Accredited Training Organisation (ATO) status allows Snap-Tech to deliver internationally recognised PRINCE2 training events in SA, providing affordable access to PRINCE2 Training Events and Certification.

States Richard Pharro, CEO of the Association of Project Management Group Limited UK: "PRINCE2 has rapidly developed into a de-facto standard in the UK and the APM Group as the Certification Body for PRINCE2 are delighted that Snap-Tech recognises the value of the stringent Accreditation process, and have become our first Accredited Training Organisation in Africa.

"Not only have Snap-Tech taken this pioneering step, but also in the view of our Assessor, the quality of their material and training ability easily matches that available in Europe and Australasia."

Guy Eastoe, MD of Snap-Tech, comments: "The pressure on CEOs to deal with the ever-increasing pace and complexity of change needs to be channelled into competitive advantage through highly skilled and trained project staff, supported by fresh, common sense project methods, and senior management who understand and carry out their crucial role in managing successful projects."
