SA Eagle soars with SAP training from CS Holdings

Johannesburg, 05 Dec 2001

CS Education Solutions, a division of JSE-listed CS Holdings, has successfully completed training for SA Eagle on the HR module of SAP Version 4.6C. The contract included the development of end-user documentation, role-based training for power users on specific sub-modules, and end-user training on the sub-modules Employee Self-Service (ESS) and Managers Desktop (MDT).

A member of the Zurich Financial Services group, SA Eagle ranks as the third largest short-term insurer in SA, operating in both the domestic and commercial markets. Its specialist products include marine, aviation and engineering insurance. Besides a network of offices in 25 centres throughout the country, SA Eagle also has subsidiary insurance companies in Botswana and Zimbabwe, and associated insurance companies in Mauritius and Swaziland.

"CS Education Solutions was recommended to SA Eagle as an accredited partner to SAP SA during the early part of 2001, and the pr0gramme details agreed by the close of the first quarter," relates Kirsten Mann, project manager at SA Eagle.

"We began the programme with a five-day high-level overview on the capabilities of SAP, in which we showed SA Eagle`s power users how the system fits into their business and what benefits it can provide," explains CS Education Solutions director Ren'e de Kock. "The overview included demonstrations, workshops and discussions as well as in-depth demonstrations of how the various HR sub-modules integrate with one-another and their specific function within the system."

Following this, CS Education Solutions developed the end-user documentation and the relevant training manuals.

"This in itself was a special challenge, as we not only had to ensure that the project team fully understood each sub-module, based on our documentation, but that the training manual would also satisfy all the end-users` requirements," says De Kock.

According to Mann, the training material is of a very high standard and the end-user documentation is exceptionally user-friendly and comprehensive.

Once the documentation had been finalised and signed off, CS Education Solutions began the four-week training programme in which the power users were schooled on all aspects of the various sub-modules that SA Eagle planned to roll-out.

"The training was very interactive, and the trainers used live examples on the dedicated training clients, so that the power users could create and develop their own scenarios and case studies," says Mann. "This approach was very well received.

CS Education Solutions also trained SA Eagle`s pilot participants in Gauteng. The pilot group included 85 ESS users and 20 MDT users.

"CS Education Solutions maintained an exceptionally high standard throughout the duration of the training," says Mann. "The trainers themselves were very professional, and did not hesitate to go the extra mile for us. We were always made to feel like the preferred customer."
