Learning and Library, MWEB`s national curriculum-based school online support, has expanded its offering in time for 2005 projects and exams.
For critical subjects such as Maths and Science, students in grades four to 12 can access content through 39 new curriculum textbooks online. Also available free to MWEB subscribers are online lessons, activities and tests.
"While we have completed the offering for critical subjects, the plan is to continue development for all subjects," says JP Farinha, GM of studios at MWEB Home. "We are nearing completion with English, Biology and Accountancy for grades four to 12, and have had fantastic feedback to date," he adds.
Farinha says the most popular attractions on the site include past exam papers and the test centre. Users can now choose a subject and module as well as the number of questions they want to answer for each test. Test results are available at the click of a button.
In addition, the site has a library, reference tools and pictures for use in projects.
"Online textbooks are a valuable addition to traditional text books," says Farinha. "They are easy to update as new material becomes available without expensive reprints. They are also interactive for the student to use. Students can work offline and cut-and-paste sections for revision or school projects."
Learning and Library`s students also have online access to teachers who offer help with feedback within 24 hours.
