Deputy communications minister Roy Padayachie and his Ghanaian counterpart Benjamin Aggrey Ntim have met in Pretoria to discuss possible collaborations and assistance programmes in the telecommunications sector.
By assisting Ghana in developing its telecommunications infrastructure and facilitating investment, SA would be able to play an active role in the African renaissance and demonstrate President Thabo Mbeki`s commitment to Nepad and to building a better economy for Africa`s benefit, says Padayachie.
Establishing an Africa-wide satellite-based tele-medicine and tele-education network and the modernisation of the telecommunication infrastructure in both countries were among the topics discussed in the meeting, the department says in a statement.
The meeting with Ghana follows similar meetings with its counterparts in the ICT sector in India and Brazil, the department says.
