In a strategic IT move, Saambou, one of SA`s top six banks with market capitalisation of more than R2 058 million, has implemented a suite of Mobius products through Gauteng-based Bateleur Software Solutions to integrate the institution`s diverse application environments and provide users with a single point of access.
This enterprise-wide implementation joins together some 15 lines of business, operated in-house and via subsidiaries, associated companies and joint ventures.
Through Mobius` powerful business tools, Document Direct, ViewDirect and DocuAnalyser, information residing on legacy and server-based systems are provided with a common, easy-to-use portal, enabling quicker access to, and distribution of, information and reports across the organisation.
"Improved information availability holds all sorts of business benefits for Saambou," says the bank`s IT executive, Johan Bosch, "including enhanced risk management resulting from the ability to earlier identify problem areas and trends that may impact upon the bottom line."
Customer relationship management is a further key area of improvement furnished by the Mobius applications.
"The intention is to harness the power of these products to build a centralised customer information repository," Bosch explains, "with complete, up-to-date `virtual client folders` that can be opened instantly by call centre staff and other authorised personnel when fielding customer`s enquiries."
ViewDirect is Mobius` integrated product suite for high volume storage, high speed indexed access and electronic distribution of enterprise content. It provides Internet and network-based solutions to a broad range of application and e-business requirements.
DocumentDirect, supporting fast implementation of personalised document search, retrieval, and processing applications, features a fully configurable interface and flexibility to deliver powerful customer care applications as well as support for ad-hoc searching needs.
The analytical tool, DocuAnalyzer, turns the data in corporate documents into information that supports the decision-making process, highlighting trends, patterns and opportunities.
According to Johan Bosch, Saambou undertook an extensive evaluation of alternative products and suppliers before selecting Mobius.
"We concluded that Mobius is a visionary company with a solutions suite that would address the bulk of our requirements -- and deliver what it promised.
"Naturally, cost-effectiveness was a major consideration. After calculating the cost of the Mobius suite versus integrating the applications in-house, we opted for the `shrink-wrapped` solution. We anticipate the packages will pay for themselves within 18 to 24 months.
"We were also very impressed with Bateleur Software Solutions, Mobius` local agents," Bosch says, "especially their willingness to help us implement the products and integrate our environment. They were there all the way."
