SABC plans multimedia call centre

The SABC's plan to implement a multimedia contact centre is "in the tender evaluation process", says Juanita van Rensburg, systems manager for audience services.

In the tender invitation, the broadcaster states: "The SABC will appoint a vendor to upgrade and consolidate the call centre infrastructure and deploy a multimedia contact centre solution."

Though the closing date for submissions was 6 March, Van Rensburg refuses to comment on when the winner will be announced, or on the value of the tender. The broadcaster would also not reveal how many bidders have been short-listed.

"The call centre will seat 150 agents," says Van Rensburg.

The centre is designed to cover the specific business and technical requirements of the Audience Services Division, information centre and IT help-desk, she adds.

Although these three divisions are the main focus for this tender, the organisation also notes that "the tender will take into consideration the selection of a contact centre solution that can fulfil the SABC's future contact centre requirements".

The tender advises that the vendor will be required to provide the following services: deploy software and hardware, and provide over IP capability, services, consulting services, maintenance and upgrade services, and training and testing services.
