Sage re-brands Enterprise solution suite

Johannesburg, 13 Feb 2002

In a move which sees its high-end solutions aligned more closely with its other accounting products and its overall marketing strategy, Sage Enterprise Solutions has re-branded its Enterprise solution suite as Line 500.

Built around the Tetra C/S3 package acquired by Sage when it bought Tetra in 1999, Line 500 is a powerful client/server business management system aimed at the Windows- and Unix-driven corporate market.

As part of the overhaul, Sage Enterprise Solutions will add a range of new features to the system. These, says Ashley Ellington, the company's regional director for Africa, will be unveiled next month.

"The primary motivation behind the name change is to ensure that customers understand which Sage solution is right for their business. If they start small, there's no problem in upgrading through the line to the high-end solutions; if they need a high-end solution at the outset, we can also cater to that," he says.

"The change of name to Line 500 for the existing Enterprise and CS/3 products will help communicate this strategy."

Sage Enterprise Solutions already boasts Line50 and Line200 solutions - lower-end products, the digits being perceived as a kind of shorthand for the number of users the system could support. However, Ellington says this shouldn't be taken literally, and that the rebranding is really a step towards rationalising the company's global portfolio of accounting products.
