Sahara Computers, through IT solutions provider and BEE company, Sahara Systems, is to supply Intel-based PCs, complete with DDR-2 technology, to the University of Stellenbosch as part of a recently awarded tender.
The infrastructure will be supplied to the campus over a three-year period.
"In the past, our approach has been to work on a year-to-year basis, but this is a significant account and our focus is to engage in a long-term partnership with our supplier. This will have far-reaching benefits in terms of security, support and sustainability," explains Phillip Julius, senior buyer at the University of Stellenbosch.
"Sahara is a strong company with solid backup and an established brand that fulfils all the necessary criteria."
Several faculties and departments, including engineering and information technology, are reliant upon the university's ICT infrastructure. This is a key resource for research, academic purposes and administration.
"We will supply the very latest available technology that will help the institution sustain its high level of technological capability that is mission-critical in terms of its day-to-day operation," says Atul Gupta, MD of Sahara Computers. "This deal represents a significant boost to the Sahara PC brand which has made great inroads into many national tertiary institutions and shows the level of confidence in our technology."
