Sahara Computers has introduced its Windows XP Tablet PC (TP7630) to the local market, providing the user with the convenience of a fully functional notebook with sensitive touch-screen technology that instantly transforms into a digital desk pad.
The tablet PC is gaining a strong reputation in the market for its versatility and mobile performance, especially among productivity and performance connoisseurs, digital lifestyle enthusiasts and businesses targeting its investment at the mobile office.
Business is all about perspective and there is no shortage of views with the Sahara WiFi Tablet PC. An ideal tool for the mobile worker that relies on the core qualities of a notebook, but will appreciate the leverage, portability and added functionality of a digital desk pad.
Powered by Intel Pentium M Dothan 1.7GHz processor, the tablet PC features a 12.1-inch TFT display offering 180-degree rotation and 512MB DDR RAM which can be strengthened to 2GB RAM for multiple application launch. A significant storehouse for all purposes, the tablet PC includes an 80GB Ultra ATA 4200 HDD and a DVD R/RW capable of writing at 8/4/8X speed.
Sahara's tablet PC also comes with a pen digitiser for applications launch and digital inking and pre-programmed application launch key pad that offers up a number of functions at the touch of a button, including: screen rotation, first menu function, WLAN activation and deactivation function as well as presentation mode function.
"Productivity and a definite return on investment are the two immediate benefits of this technology. Sales reps, consultants and other mobile workers can couple their software with WiFi or wireless LAN capability to instantly gain access to their data, networks and other communication facilities such as faxes, PDAs and much more. This means the ability to automatically print, fax or e-mail - so there is no time wasted in having to go back to the office to organise that quote or send through a contract, everything is available and ready at the touch of a button," explains Gary Naidoo, Deputy MD, Sahara.
One of the key features of this product is the fact that it can easily function as a desk pad. This means that users quite literally hand write on the screen, take notes in a meeting and then convert back to normal text at a later stage.
"We are finding that industries and companies with environments that are mobile-intensive and very active, like hospitals and factories, gain a great deal from this technology. Reports can be generated quickly and thoroughly, allowing workers the benefits of true mobile technology," adds Naidoo.
The product also comes bundled with Norton anti-virus 2006, Free Magic 6 CD Rom gift pack, Sahara Online Internet dial-up software.
