Sales, service delivery enhanced by new Sage Enterprise solutions

Functionality, integration and the ability to enhance customer service at all points of contact are the three key benefits that Sage Enterprise Solutions (SES) is highlighting this week following the launch of two new modules for its business management solution framework.

The modules - telesales and warehouse management - have been added to the Sage CS/3 and Enterprise solution sets. Sage CS/3 business management solution (BMS) is designed for Unix systems; Sage Enterprise for Windows NT/2000.

"Telesales and warehouse management are often overlooked when companies consider the applications that are strategic within their organisation," says Lee Mounter, business advisory manager at Sage Enterprise Solutions South Africa.

"However, being able to maximise contact and interaction with customers - and being able to ensure that products are dispatched and shipped in the most timely fashion - are two critical components of effective customer relationship management."

The telesales module has been designed to speed up, and in some cases automate, the process of telephonically dealing with customer queries and orders. Functionality includes allowing telesales operators to access the additional systems they need when interfacing with customers - charge calculation, pricing structures and stock control for example.

"The system is designed to be fast and flexible; it also boasts comprehensive reporting and enquiry tools [which can be accessed without leaving the telesales module] as well as functions that allow operators to be proactive in their interaction with customers," explains Mounter.

"Of course, it also integrates tightly with the broader BMS. This means that whether the situation is proactive or reactive, the combination of speed, flexibility and information is bound to improve the service to the customer and maximise sales."

From a warehouse management standpoint, the new module provides the functionality to help companies control and utilise warehouse space more efficiently.

The main areas covered are 'warehouse putaway' (which recommends where received goods should be stored); 'pick face replenishment' (which refills bins from a bulk storage area); and 'picking and dispatching' (offering manual and automatic processing of orders).

"Warehouse management is a complex process - but one that's made significantly simpler with a functionally-rich system that integrates into the rest of the business management framework," explains Mounter.

"We've added multiple layers of control for users and managers to this module, as well as enhanced quality control functionality and a great deal of complementary overlap with other Sage modules.

"It also works well for inter-branch transfers and management. Companies that have branches spread across the country can now treat each branch as a separate 'customer' and process their orders and requirements from the central head office. And again, it integrates well with the greater Sage system."
