Samsung rolls out 2GB DDR3

Samsung Electronics, maker of dynamic random access memory (DDR3) has begun mass production of 2GB DDR3 memory chips using 40nm process technology, reports Xbit Laboratories.

The new fabrication process should enable low manufacturing costs as well as potentially higher performance.

Samsung's new 2GB chip, made using the 40nm process tech, supports clock-speeds of up to 1.6GHz at 1.35V.

Taking touch to the PC

Touch-screen technology has been sweeping the consumer electronics world, especially mobile phones where every leading smartphone vendor has several models that support this technology with varying degrees of efficacy, says Express Computer.

Of late, we have begun to see touch-screen technology being used in PCs with brands such as HP and Asus releasing touch-enabled products.

Although this technology has quite successful on the mobile phone front, a question mark remains about its suitability for desktop PCs.

Reduced sound for gaming

iBuyPower, a custom-builder of gaming PCs, has developed a specialised noise reduction technology, the Harmony Sound Reduction System (H-SRS), according to TweakTown.

The Harmony SRS reduces noise by both preventing noise from escaping from the enclosure and limiting the amount of noise produced by sources inside the case.

In order to contain unwanted noise in a case, the internal walls of the case are lined with acoustic dampening case panels.
