Samsung unveils 4G netbook

Samsung Electronics and Yota, a Russian developer and provider of mobile services, released a modified Samsung NC10 netbook with built-in mobile WiMax module and software to connect to the fourth-generation network, says LBS Zone.

The 4G netbook Samsung NC10 is the first notebook in Russia which supports mobile WiMax technology.

Weighing 1.33kg, NC10 is capable of running up to 9 hours, 40 minutes on battery power. An integrated 1.3 megapixel motion camera allows NC10 users to hold video conferences backed by a high-speed (up to 10 Mbps) Yota network.

Motorola introduces mobile computer series

Motorola has unveiled a series of rugged mobile computers tailored for Asian enterprises, adding to its existing range of mobile computing products and solutions, reports Web Wire.

The new FR series initially comprises the FR68 and FR6000 rugged and compact mobile computers which have been specifically developed to meet the needs of the mobile worker in the Asia-Pacific region.

Both FR68 Enterprise Digital Assistant and the FR6000 handheld computer are full-function 3.5G HSDPA/WAN network standard mobile computers that offer simultaneous voice and high speed connectivity and GPS navigation.

Software driver for Mac OS X

Chelsio Communications, a provider of 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapters and Asic solutions, has released its first software driver for Apple's Mac OS X operating systems, bringing the high performance of Chelsio's Unified Wire adapters to the rapidly growing Mac OS X-based enterprise data centres, says PR Newswire.

The multi-function NIC driver, which supports Mac OS X version 10.5.2 and above, is currently available from Chelsio and its distributors.

Kianoosh Naghshineh, president and CEO of Chelsio says: "These all-in-one Ethernet adapters are future proofing Mac OS X environments and enabling low-cost fabric convergence."
