Samsung unveils 8Gb flash memory technology
Samsung says it is now mass-producing its 8Gb flash memory technology. The new memory chips are being produced on Samsung`s 60nm process technology - enabling high-density and more efficient manufacturing production.
Geek.com reports that "the new device will enable 8Gb Nand flash solutions by allowing the stacking of two 4Gb flash modules, with each module being composed of a vertical stack of four 8Gb chips".
The South Korean memory producer says the manufacturing technology used to produce these chips is the smallest yet.
Manufacturing technology integral to Intel
As Intel recently announced second quarter revenue of $8 billion, the company has hailed its manufacturing technology as an important aspect in this success.
"We are also extending our lead in manufacturing technology, with the majority of microprocessor production this year on our advanced 65nm process," says Intel President and CEO Paul Otellini.
