SanDisk snaps up FlashSoft
ZDNet reports.
FlashSoft gives SanDisk a bigger presence in the enterprise market for solid state disk drive (SSD) storage.
The company says it plans to sell FlashSoft's products, which promise to boost performance and scalability of applications running on servers, both as standalone and bundled offerings, in conjunction with SanDisk's existing SAS, PCi and SATA products.
According to SanDisk, FlashSoft's software is targeted for Windows, Linux and VMware platforms, Forbes says.
The deal will be neutral to 2012 results and accretive in 2013, the company notes. Terms were not disclosed.
According to The Register, Sanjay Mehrotra, SanDisk president and CEO, explains the rationale behind the acquisition: "[It] represents an important step in SanDisk's strategy of delivering complete SSD and software solutions to enterprise storage customers."
FlashSoft has partnerships with flash suppliers such as LSI, OCZ and Virident. It is an early-stage start-up, having gained just $3 million in series A funding in June last year.
