SANParks kicks off Great Plains project with Datacentrix

Johannesburg, 12 Feb 2003

South African National Parks (SANParks) has selected IT infrastructure and solutions provider, Datacentrix, as partner of choice for a Microsoft Great Plains project which will see the integration of the organisation`s front office, e-procurement and HR systems. SANParks manages a system of some 20 national parks, including the Kruger, Marakele and Golden Gate.

Datacentrix was awarded the contract based on its extensive integration capabilities and black empowerment standing.

"One of our key focus areas has always been integration," says Charl Joubert, Datacentrix Solutions MD. "As a relatively new Microsoft Business Solutions partner, we are also very pleased to have been recently presented with Microsoft Business Solutions` Leadership Award.

"SANParks currently operates a mainframe system which comprises several off-the-shelf and home-grown solutions developed over the years," he explains.

"The organisation is dispersed over numerous regions across the country, many of which are made up of several offices situated in remote areas. The organisation`s Prophecy accounting system will be replaced with Great Plains and will enable SANParks to operate the system from its head office in Pretoria."
