SAP appoints CS Holdings as first role-based education partner

Johannesburg, 28 Jul 1999

SAP, the world`s largest provider of enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions, has appointed JSE-listed CS Holdings as its first role-based partner in South Africa, and one of the first in the world.

Role-based training courses aim to provide SAP R/3 end-users with the relevant knowledge and skills required to become proficient in their roles.

CS Computer Services has a well established training division with eight training centres in all the main regions of South Africa, and a further 11 satellite branches in remote areas. The role-based education will be conducted through the newly created SAP R/3 Business Education division of CS Apps. This will make use of CS Holdings` national training facilities, reflecting the distributed nature of SAP R/3 solutions in South Africa.

Dave Simonds, GM: Education and Training at SAP Southern Africa, says: "One of the major benefits of our partnership with CS Computer Services is that SAP (SA) can now extend role-based education to regions where previously we had no formal infrastructure."

Ben Scheepers, business development manager at CS Apps, says the future growth and development of the role-based education courses was inevitable as clients discerned the potential benefits of end-users.

"Although we started off with generic courses aimed at end-users, we soon identified the need for customised and client-specific training," says Scheepers.

"The creation of the SAP R/3 Business Education division reflects the need to provide clients with more than just generic role-based education. With our qualified SAP consultants and documentation and customisation specialists, we can provide customers with specific SAP R/3 role-based education courses," concludes Scheepers.
