SAP certification for Solaris 10 OS x64 systems gives Fujitsu Siemens Computers a worldwide first

PRIMERGY BladeFrame from Fujitsu Siemens Computers the first system to achieve certification for both AMD and Intel servers
Munich, 03 May 2007

Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European IT provider, today announced that its PRIMERGY BladeFrame powered by Egenera has been fully certified to run SAP applications on Sun Solaris 10 operating system for x64.

PRIMERGY BladeFrame is the first server platform to achieve full SAP on Solaris certification for both Intel and AMD servers.

PRIMERGY BladeFrame's unique processing area network (PAN) architecture dynamically allocates computing resources for optimal system performance, therefore reducing data centre complexity. Furthermore, BladeFrame's capabilities for rapid redeployment and reconfiguration of resources open up new disaster recovery options and make PRIMERGY BladeFrame an ideal platform for SAP implementations on both Windows and Solaris operating systems.

"The certification for SAP on Solaris 20 positions PRIMERGY BladeFrame as an excellent choice for SAP customers who have decided in favour of a Unix operating system but want a solution based on industry standard architecture," says Danny de Beer, Business Development Manager, PRIMERGY BladeFrame at Fujitsu Siemens Computers.

"PRIMERGY BladeFrame delivers a fully-virtualised open platform, enabling customers to implement truly flexible infrastructures providing maximum efficiency at the lowest cost, in keeping with our vision for the dynamic data centre of the future."

Full certification of the SAP applications on Solaris 10 for x64 adds to the credentials for Fujitsu Siemens Computers whose SAP portfolio already includes FlexFrame for SAP dynamic solutions running on both Solaris and Linux operating systems - an infrastructure solution that provides specialised functionality through tight integration into SAP Netweaver.

"Fujitsu Siemens Computers is the first Intel OEM partner in Europe to provide certified Intel servers for SAP on Solaris 10 for x64," said Rick Skett, Director Marketing at Intel. "The combination of the PRIMERGY BladeFrame PAN architecture and Intel's record breaking performance provides customers with an ideal platform for supporting their mission-critical SAP applications."

"Full certification of SAP on Solaris for BladeFrame is an important part of our promise to customers to provide the most rigorously tested and broadly applicable solution available," said Susan Davis, Vice-President at Egenera.

In concert with Fujitsu Siemens Computers' Global SAP Competence Centre, the SAP on Solaris 10 for x64 certifications for PRIMERGY BladeFrame were performed by Sun's SAP certification partner *xware, at the Egenera SAP Competence Centre in Walldorf, Germany.

Concurrently, Egenera, Fujitsu Siemens Computers' OEM partner and vendor of the Egenera BladeFrame product family in the Americas and APAC, announced broad certification for its Egenera BladeFrame system.
