SAP promises rapid BI insight

According to SAP, too few people have had intuitive and immediate access to the information required to make sound business decisions, says AME info.

The company has unveiled SAP BusinessObjects Explorer, which it says brings together search and navigation capabilities from the SAP BusinessObjects portfolio with SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse Accelerator software. This enables customers to navigate mountains of business data at rapid speeds, giving them a clear view across their organisations, says SAP.

Using an intuitive search box as its interface, SAP BusinessObjects Explorer is designed to allow people to enter key words in order to find the data they need to answer critical business questions.

Software and services provider Cincom Systems has signed a partnership with information technology company IBM for its Smart Business Program, reports Trading Markets.

According to the company, the following Cincom products are currently a part of the IBM Smart Business Platform: Cincom Synchrony Express, which provides departmental-level or small to medium contact centres with an all-in-one contact centre solution; and Cincom Business Intelligence, a BI solution for small to medium businesses which includes rapid data access, reporting, ETL/data warehousing and multi-dimensional analytics packages.

The two companies have over 800 joint customers and Cincom technology is embedded in IBM's Tivoli offering.

Infobright, a provider of open source data warehousing solutions, and Pentaho, a provider of open source alternative for BI, have collaborated to deliver an integrated virtual machine that combines Infobright Community Edition with Pentaho BI Suite Community Edition, states Billing and OSS World.

The virtual machine is based on Ubuntu Linux with the Tomcat application server. Delivery via virtual machine makes this a faster way for users to try out the software and to start prototyping their own applications without installing or configuring software.

The integrated download provides users with a pre-built analytic database, along with interactive dashboard examples, parameterised operational and analytic reports, said Pentaho.
