The South African Post Office (SAPO) has short-listed eight candidates for the vacant CIO position, following the resignation of Ntsundeni Madzunya a few months ago.
We`re looking for a thought leader in the business space," says SAPO CEO Khutso Mampeule. The application process is progressing "very well", he adds, and an appointment should be made within the next two months.
"From the eight short-listed individuals - whose identities have not been revealed - Mampeule will select three or four candidates who will then be interviewed by a panel of SAPO executives and representatives of the board.
Unwilling to disclose the actual value of securing this high-profile IT post, he describes the salary package as "very competitive".
For the past two months, SAPO`s 60-strong IT division has been led by acting CIO Siphiwe Radebe.
Madzunya`s contract was due to expire in 2008, but was terminated on 15 May. SAPO has stated that discussions between the two parties ended in mutual agreement.
