SAS, the leader in business intelligence, recently announced plans to lead the retail intelligence software industry in 2004 and has received strong validation in the Retail Info Systems (RIS) News Leaderboard 2003 rankings.
An annual supplement to RIS News, Leaderboard surveys top retail executives across the industry and rates software vendors on four criteria: retail concentration (number of retail-specific applications offered), overall customer satisfaction, retail revenue and brand recognition. Within the customer satisfaction criterion, vendors are ranked for overall performance, strategic value, ROI, TOC, ease of upgrading, ease of installation, ease of integration, ease of administration, quality of support and quality of service.
Survey respondents placed SAS in first place in the significant categories of Leaders in Overall Performance, Leaders in ROI and Leaders in Quality of Support.
SAS placed second in Leaders in Strategic Value and Leaders in Total Cost of Operation; SAS was third for Leaders in Ease of Upgrading, Leaders in Ease of Installation, Leaders in Ease of Administration/Maintenance and Leaders in Ease of Integration.
RIS News noted that SAS's recent acquisition of Marketmax will have a significant impact on its position in the Retail Concentration category in 2004 and will place SAS "among the leaders."
"One name that keeps popping up throughout the pages of the Leaderboard is SAS," said Joe Skorupa, Group Editor-in-Chief, RIS News. "2002 was SAS's debut on the Leaderboard and they've made the most significant strides of any of the vendors. SAS is highly regarded among the retail executives that we surveyed, and we expect that in 2004 they will be putting the industry stalwarts through their paces for the top spot."
"We're delighted that SAS had such a strong presence on the RIS News Leaderboard this year," said David Joseph, SAS's retail strategist. "We've stated that 2004 will be a banner year for SAS in the retail sector, and we're not just trumpeting our own horn. We deliver an unparalleled breadth of applications specific to the needs of retailers while maintaining our high standards of excellence across the board. We're confident that we'll set a new standard in the industry and this will be reflected in the 2004 Leaderboard."
