SAS Forum 2007 - An executive conference kicked off today at Stockholmsm"assan, Stockholm International Fairs, in the capital city of Sweden.

The conference, previously know as SAS Forum International, will last two days, and is aimed at bringing together executive management and C-level executives as well as thought leaders from all over the world.

More than 1 400 delegates from 52 countries have come together at the forum to hear SAS customers' success stories and to discuss challenges and breakthroughs in global business.

The overriding theme of the conference is innovation and performance. In his opening address, Mikael Hagstr"om, Executive Vice-President for SAS EMEA and Asia Pacific, commented: "The global business landscape is currently facing many challenges, and organisations need to think differently and embrace innovation in order to gain a competitive advantage. The main idea is to maximise value, minimise risk and optimise performance."

Dr James Goodnight, CEO and founder of SAS Institute, addressed the delegation as one of the keynote speakers. His key message centred on the need for organisations to become customer-centric. According to Goodnight: "Satisfied customers are the key to growth in any business." He believes it is this philosophy that has led SAS to achieving 30 consecutive years of growth and profitability.

Over the next two days, SAS Forum 2007 will have top-level decision-makers from international organisations presenting keynote speeches and several different industry tracks, ranging from banking, insurance and retail to business and technology, manufacturing, the public sector and communications and media. Each of these tracks will focus on innovation and performance, as well as the specific needs and business pains in the industries at an executive level.

The forum will help executives to face the ever-increasing challenges in the global business arena in a positive and proactive way. Hagstr"om concludes: "While the challenges facing business today may be greater than ever, this also means there is greater opportunity for innovation, and therefore greater opportunity to outperform the competition."
