The SAS Global Forum, the premier event for SAS and business analytics professionals worldwide, is scheduled to kick off in Seattle next week.

The event will be hosted in Seattle at the Washington State Convention and Trade Centre from 11 to 14 April 2010, and with more than 400 presentations, workshops and seminars to choose from, there will be something for everyone at this year's event.

“To help delegates attending this year's event, we have instituted a number of online tools such as an online Personal Agenda Builder, links to blogs that provide a view on what the most desirable topics for discussion will be over the duration of the event, and an online networking and messaging centre called SGF Connect Online, which is similar to LinkedIn,” says Kevin Kemp, Sales Manager at SAS Institute South Africa, Commercial Division.

Attendees will be able to engage in some of the best learning and training opportunities, as well as choose from more than 300 paper presentations covering a wide array of applications and industries, and take advantage of lessons learned and best programming practices from experienced developers making use of SAS technologies in their business.

In addition, there will be a host of hands-on workshops led by expert SAS users, technical sessions to assist developers with debugging and fine-tuning their code, listen to case studies that teach innovative ways to apply SAS solutions, and gain access to the demo room where new features and innovations in product design will be unpacked.

The keynote presentation on the opening day will be delivered by well-known “cybersatirist” Bob Hirschfeld, who has lampooned business and technology for more than 10 years. Now Bob adds the title “ecosatirist” to focus on the challenges and opportunities of going green. Other speakers will include Joseph C Gardiner with “Survival analysis: overview of parametric, nonparametric and semiparametric approaches and new developments”; Michael A Raithel, whose presentation is titled: “It's not easy being an SAS programmer”; and Stephen Few, who will provide a view on data visualisation - reporting and information visualisation.

“The SAS Global Forum has always presented a perfect place for SAS professionals to gain a better understanding of the SAS solution sets while at the same time take share experiences with peers, gain insights from industry thought leaders, and test new technologies,” ends Kemp.
