SAS South Africa launches Extended Learning Pages

For students from 14 of SAS Education's most popular courses, learning doesn't end when class is over. These learners will now benefit from a host of new online resources to help them further their knowledge and extend their learning beyond the classroom.

The SAS Education Extended Learning Pages offer students a powerful resource that combines access to all of the course content they receive in class, including data sets and practice exercises with learning tools from other SAS and user resources.

“Education has always been a priority for SAS and we are constantly working to improve the learning experience,” says Leonard Browne, Education Team Lead at SAS South Africa.

“This new resource harnesses the power of technology to expand our relationship with our students by providing them with tools that they can access long after the course ends. This gives them a far richer learning experience and resources they can use into the future to further their learning.”

All pages for each of the 14 courses will allow learners to download course data, learn more on course topics through recommended reading, extra practice and examples, frequently asked questions and more, identify recommended next steps and find additional resources.

Depending on the course, the contents of the pages will change to offer relevant information, including recommended reading lists, blogs, technical papers and SAS Press books as well as links to SAS-sponsored online discussion forums where users can share experiences, questions and ideas with other users.

“The Extended Learning Pages will include exercises and data for extra practice, as well as code samples from support.sas.com so that students can discover additional ways to use the software,” Browne adds. “They also offer students a link into the broader community around the software. In this way, users of the pages can communicate with each other, sharing code or helping each other become more proficient SAS users.”

SAS Education currently offers Extended Learning Pages for the following courses:

* SAS Programming Introduction: Basic Concepts
* SAS Programming 1: Essentials
* SAS Programming 2: Data Manipulation Techniques
* SAS Programming 3: Advanced Techniques and Efficiencies
* SAS Report Writing 1: Using Procedures and ODS
* SAS SQL 1: Essentials

* SAS Enterprise Guide 1: Querying and Reporting
* SAS Enterprise Guide 2: Advanced Tasks and Querying

Students who have completed these courses can access the resource using individual activation codes that are sent to them in a post-course e-mail.

“Our ultimate goal is to be able to offer Extended Learning Pages for all of our more than 150 courses,” Browne concludes. “Another round of courses will be added to the resource in June, including courses in Statistics, JMP, Data Integration, Business Intelligence, Platform Administration and others.”
