International financial services organisations are implementing SAS solutions to transform risk management from a Basel II regulatory obligation into a competitive advantage.
So says Kerry Evans, Sales Manager: Financial Services at SAS SA, who adds that in 2003 more than 30 banks and financial services organisations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific joined the company's risk management customer base.
"This considerable portfolio of customers mirrors SAS's continued success in the global risk management market," she notes.
A recent report by Forrester Research supports the need for risk management programmes that look beyond compliance and that cover all the data management issues as well as analysis and reporting requirements.
According to Forrester, 'SAS provides the most comprehensive offering beyond pure Basel II compliance. The current offering of other applications focuses on how to become Basel II compliant - instead of improving visibility into risk exposure.'
"As organisations continue Basel II compliance efforts, they realise that SAS's unique methodology, solutions and expertise allow them to move beyond the basic regulatory requirements to make risk management a fundamental business discipline throughout the enterprise," adds Evans.
SAS recently expanded its financial analytics and operational risk capabilities through the acquisition of technology and resources from OpRisk Analytics and RiskAdvisory.
"The addition of this expertise builds upon an already formidable foundation of more than 27 years' experience and over 2 000 customers in the financial services industry," Evans concludes.
