SAS Institute, the leader in business analytics solutions, has shown its wholehearted support for GovTech 2010 by sponsoring the event as an Affiliate Partner.
This is the fifth annual GovTech conference, an event that has grown to become South Africa's premier forum for key stakeholders involved in ICT initiatives for the public sector.
The event is aimed at senior leaders across all levels of government who are involved in the evaluation, selection, procurement and management of technology solutions, as well as top-level representatives from ICT providers of all sizes.
“At SAS we have a strong focus on public sector solutions, especially those around monitoring and evaluation to help government move from being efficient to being effective,” says Desan Naidoo, general manager for Public Sector at SAS Institute South Africa. “GovTech is all about helping government to achieve just this, by enabling attendees to learn from global best practices to develop sustainable IT value, explore solutions to realise measurable service delivery outcomes, and understand the capabilities required by them in order to build services for improved operational efficiency.
“The government agenda for 2010 is to deliver improved citizen services while simultaneously maximising value and cost controls. Our solutions for the public sector are aimed at enabling these ideals, and it makes sense therefore for us to align ourselves with this event,” he adds.
GovTech is South Africa's most prominent public sector technology learning event, and is designed to promote knowledge sharing and dialogue between leaders in the ICT field who share a common interest in transforming government.
The aims of GovTech are to: establish an ongoing public-private sector dialogue for success; provide a platform for information sharing between all spheres of government and industry; profile successful ICT initiatives undertaken across public sector in South Africa; present global best practices and proven solutions to key public sector challenges; facilitate the discovery of new and innovative technologies to serve citizens better; support the transformation and modernisation of the public sector through ICT; and contribute to the future of public sector ICT.
The four-day event will be held at the Durban Convention Centre from 5-8 September 2010.
