SAS wins ETL market share from competition

SAS continues to increase revenues in a growing ETL market

SAS, the leader in business intelligence, is increasing its share in the growing market for software that enables customers to retrieve data from any source. In a recent report, Forrester Research ranks SAS second in sales of software that performs data extraction, transformation and loading, or ETL (extraction, transformation and load). The report predicts that the ETL market will exceed $1 billion in 2005, which is an important milestone "because it shows that ETL tools constitute a major category of IT product that has hit its prime and stabilised as a market".

During the past three years, SAS has continued to pick up shares from the competition. SAS's ETL solution is the integration platform that allows organisations to bring together and cleanse data from any location - enterprise applications, relational or legacy systems. The Forrester report, which studies the growth of the ETL market and evaluates vendors based on market share, placed SAS's ETL offering second out of 20 products and noted that SAS accounted for a "far larger proportion of growth than any other vendor in the ETL market".

"This Forrester report clearly highlights our leadership capabilities in the ETL space," said Bill Prentice, manager of technology strategy, SAS. "Executives know that access to reliable data is critical for informed decision-making. Only SAS seamlessly integrates ETL and data quality processes with storage, reporting and analytics for easier and faster access to information that can drive a company's success."
