Sasol Synthetic Fuels has ensured Year 2000 compliance by implementing UniQue, Q Data DynamiQue`s integrated payroll and human resources administration package.
Roger Ribeiro, senior head of personnel administration services at Sasol Synthetic Fuels, says the company upgraded from QPAC and Profile to take advantage of UniQue`s affordability and superior report writing as well as their commitment to research and development.

"The product`s value for money is difficult to beat and distributor Q Data DynamiQue adds further merit through its extensive knowledge of legislation, particularly regarding tax issues. Our purchase of UniQue has proven to be a good, low-risk decision."
Sasol Synthetic Fuels has deployed UniQue across eight companies in its organisation, catering for 8 500 employees on the payroll. The user friendliness of the system was an important criterion, as most of Sasol Synthetic Fuel`s 60 users on its Novell local area network are personnel officers rather then technical staff.
Because UniQue runs on Windows, manipulation of information from other Microsoft-based products is quick and simple, negating the need to direct capture details which already exist in other applications. This facility also improves accuracy by preventing inaccurate data capture.
"By maintaining tables and parameters, UniQue makes it possible to have less experienced people on the system and still obtain good results, "Ribeiro says. "We are able to make the system work for us, not the other way around. Another benefit is that Q Data DynamiQue is always willing to consider including user suggestions in the next upgrade of the software."
Hennie Burger, area leader at Human Resources support systems SSF, agrees. "Both the payroll and human resource modules of UniQue met our requirements. On the Human Resources side, we are able to provide a better quality of management information on aspects such as qualifications, long service awards, disciplinary actions and leave records.
"We have also achieved substantial cost savings and productivity improvements. The information is more easily available, and the integration between payroll and Human Resources is critical."
According to Burger, one of the biggest benefits of UniQue is the ability to operate a reliable payroll which ensures salaries are paid on the correct day without risks. For example, the tax deductions are consistently correct, which is a major issue for every employee.
