Leading IT infrastructure distributor, Axiz has added a new dimension to storage with the launch of the Belkin USB Anywhere. Connecting two mass storage devices using USB cables, this sassy storage assistant is able to transfer photos, songs and files from one storage device to another - all without a computer.
"Consumer demand for this product is growing at a rapid pace. We are thus excited to extend our product portfolio by distributing Belkin products such as this unique storage assistant," says Joy Britten, accessories product manager at Axiz.
Britten explains: "Should a digital camera`s memory card be full the Belkin USB Anywhere can be used to download picture images to the portable hard drive, enabling the user to take more pictures. It operates by copying files from a digital camera to an external hard drive, between two MP3 players and/or USB flash-memory drives, CD-R burners and memory card readers."
Users can free memory space on media cards, transfer files without having to use a computer, and copy individual files or complete directories with two copy modes when utilising the Belkin USB Anywhere. It also shuts down automatically after 30 seconds of inactivity to ensure a longer battery life.
The Belkin USB Anywhere is compact, lightweight in design and small in size so users can carry it with ease. Additional memory cards are also no longer necessary thanks to the Belkin USB Anywhere. It features a flashing LED to indicate a fast transfer status, installs with plug-and-play and hot swap convenience, transfers files at up to 12Mbps and operates on three AAA alkaline batteries. Also included with the Belkin USB Anywhere is a 5V, 1.5A optional power supply.
The distributorship agreement between Axiz and Belkin was announced in December 2005. As a result, Axiz will distribute the full range of Belkin products from personal digital assistants (PDAs) accessories, cables and interface solutions to power protection and keyboard, video and mouse (KVM) switches. This provides Belkin with an extended footprint into South Africa. Axiz is also regarded as an important player in the distributor market and will add significant value to Belkin`s current distribution network.
